The series Mayna, Ici C'Babi, Salma, or Bghit Hyatek probably don't mean anything to you. Yet, you could be addicted to them!
As part of the first edition of the Euro Africa Biennale in Montpellier, we're offering you an exceptional evening to experience the revival of African series. Through a selection made by the Dakar Séries festival, we'll travel to the four corners of Africa with different episodes that will give you a new perspective on pan-African audiovisual creativity. After America, Europe, and Asia, will Africa be the next essential continent for series?
On the program for this evening:
> Mayna (Algeria)
Comprised of 20 episodes of 26 minutes each, this scathingly humorous television series takes place in southern Algeria, more precisely in Timimoun. The story follows the unlikely adventures of Krimo, owner of a hotel and gas station, and Hmimi, owner of an Oasis. Winner of the Best Cinematography Award at the Dakar Séries.

> Here C'Babi (Ivory Coast)
"ICI C' BABI" takes viewers to the heart of Abidjan, the capital of Côte d'Ivoire and nicknamed Babi. Through the capital's bustling neighborhoods, colorful markets, and picturesque streets, the series explores the joys, challenges, and aspirations of five characters who meet in a whirlwind of laughter, love, and misunderstandings. A series as hilarious as it is moving.
The series, produced by Charly Kodjo (Instant2Vie Studio) in co-production with TV5MONDE, was awarded the Jury Prize in the Series category at the last Fespaco 2023.
