In 1986, Wole Soyinka became the first African writer to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature. An honorary citizen of the city of Montpellier since 1984, the Nigerian novelist, playwright, and poet, a leading political figure in his country, will be in Montpellier to discuss his new novel, published this fall by Seuil, Chronicles of the Land of the Happiest People in the World .
